#BerenaDeservedBetter is growing!

After launching on Monday evening, a brief update on progress:

The open letter to Simon Harper, asking the BBC to hear and engage with our complaints about the way that Holby City handled the ending of Berena and to commit to doing better by LGBTQ audiences more generally going forward, has attracted close to 200 signatures. Some of these are still unconfirmed, so if you’ve signed the letter but don’t see your name on the list, please make sure you check your inbox for an email asking you confirm you signature. If you haven’t yet read and signed the letter, click here.

Having seen a couple of BBC responses to complaints, which attempt to suggest that it is not legitimate to complain about problematic LGBTQ representation, we have posted a thoroughgoing rebuttal. Please feel free to refer to this rebuttal when submitting your own complaints. You can find help and advice on complaining here.

We plan to collect and post responses from the BBC, making them available for discussion. You can view the first couple here, where you’ll also find a link to email us.

Discussion continues on Twitter via #BerenaDeservedBetter. We can’t change what’s happened on Holby City, but we can try to ensure that our voices are heard on the harm caused and how it can be avoided.
